Why consider an independent school? Independent schools are nonprofits guided by a Board of Trustees. They are a self-governing body, free from politics and bureaucracy. Independent schools have a long history of success because students and the educational programs always come first. Madison Country Day School continues that tradition. Here’s how:

  • Our school size will remain small, one of the key indicators of educational success.
  • We have a strong commitment to character education and leadership development.
  • We have high expectations both academically and behaviorally.
  • We take great pride in our caring atmosphere and community environment.
  • Our students participate in a “no cut” sports program.
  • Electives and activities are open to all students. Being a small school, there are no barriers to participation and students are encouraged to get involved in a diverse array of activities.
  • And in academics, our students are engaged in a curriculum that challenges their intellect and their artistic and athletic abilities while capturing their imagination.

This is a place where young people find that they can balance intellectual rigor with fun and rewarding extracurricular activities. It is a place where smiles abound and confidence comes from accomplishment.

From a new parent ...

"It has been amazing watching our daughter blossom in the last three months. She has become more personally responsible and more directed in her thinking. Her writing was always good, but has moved to a new level with the encouragement she has gotten at MCDS. She is even happy in math. That is something we didn't think we'd ever see! She has always been a cautious child as far as showing her talents goes. At MCDS, she has been selected for repeated school recognition for various things. This has made her more confident in her abilities and made her want to try new things. We are so happy we made the decision to move her to MCDS."
