MCDS values and develops the whole child. Athletics at MCDS help our students cultivate teamwork, self-confidence, perserverance, and a lifelong love of physical endeavor. From the Kindergarten soccer program to the Middle School basketball teams to the High School cross country team, our students enjoy a variety of sports in all levels of the school. MCDS’ no-cut policy allows each student to contribute. MCDS athletes benefit from our carefully maintained facilities such as our collegiate-level track and gymnasium, as well as, our dedicated coaches and supportive school spirit. Our WIAA cooperative partnerships with other local high schools provide a range of additional varsity sport opportunities to our high school athletes.

Middle School Sports

Lower School Sports
Soccer teams at each grade level from Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.
MCDS Club Sports
Badminton, Crew, Cross Country Skiing, Lacrosse, Snowboarding, and Ultimate Frisbee.
The MCDS Athletic Tradition is Strong and Growing
• Each year MCDS evaluates new sports, programs, and ideas to expand opportunities for our students. Join in on the fun!
• The MCDS student-athlete also participates in sports outside of the school including Swimming, Baseball, Tennis, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Dance, Ice Skating, Cheer, Horseback Riding, Fencing, and Aikido.

Madison Country Day is excited to form a new partnership with Cherokee Country Club to offer tennis programming for our student-athletes of all ages. MCDS will be offering USTA Junior Tennis Teams starting in the winter of 2014. If your student-athlete is interested in joining the tennis fun, please contact Mr. Clements for more information.
MCDS Fall Athletics
HS 8-Man Football
The HS 8-Man football team participates within the Great 8 Conference through our tri-op with Abundant Life and St. Ambrose Academy. All practices and home games are held at Abundant Life. The HS 8-Man football team is coached by Head Coach Mark Martinez.
HS Boys Soccer
The HS boys soccer team participates as an independent through our tri-op with Abundant Life and St. Ambrose Academy. All practices are held at MCDS and home games are held at the Daleo Soccer Fields in Westport just down the road from MCDS. HS boys soccer is coached by Mark Childs and Gabriel Marin.
HS Girls Volleyball
The HS girls volleyball team participates in the Trailways Conference through our co-op with Abundant Life. All practices and home games are held at Abundant Life. HS girls volleyball is coached by Rachel Schenkenberg and Becca Mast.
HS Cross Country
The HS cross country team competes in the Trailways Conference through our co-op with Abundant Life. All of the team practices and home meets occur at MCDS. The HS cross country team is coached by Jake Eaton and Justin Belmarez.
The U12 MS soccer team participates in the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA). All of the team practices and home games occur at MCDS. The U12 soccer team is coached by Stacy Bolwerk.
MS Cross Country
The MSS cross country team competes in the Trailways Conference and travels to many meets with the HS cross country team. All of the team practices and home meets occur at MCDS. The MS cross country team is coached by Jake Eaton and Justin Belmarez.
MS Girls Volleyball
The MS girls volleyball team competes against local private and independent schools within the Madison Area. All practices and home games occur at MCDS. The MS girls volleyball team is coached by Kristina Luedtke and Melissa Boyce.
MCDS has grade level soccer teams that compete within in-house leagues as part of the Capital East Soccer Club. All of the team practices occur at MCDS and games occur at various parks on the east side of Madison. Our LS soccer teams are coached by gracious parent-volunteers including but not limited to Mike Jones, Mike Jones, Todd Asmuth, Devon Davis, Ted Krez, Peter Cherchian, Ariel Shibilski and Greg Fries.
