Madison Country Day School looks to parents, trustees, grandparents, faculty, friends, and staff for contributions that will ensure the best educational experience possible.
MCDS is similar to other nonprofit organizations in that it requires contributed income as part of its operating budget. Generally, independent schools annually raise 25% to 35% of the funds needed for operations. Madison Country Day School is a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)3 tax status, which means that contributions received by MCDS are tax deductible.
Annual Fund giving is critical to the success of the School. Annual giving speaks volumes about the strength of the School by the number of family members who decide to give back just a little of what they feel they have received. The Annual Fund Campaign begins in late October and runs until the end of the fiscal year in June. Contributions are sought from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The School does not receive government funding.
The School has also established a gift program to make it easy for contributors to give. Contributions given to Educational Programs support the School's operations. Contributions can also be given to the Scholarship Fund, to the Endowment, to a special program, and to Building Renovation/Construction.
MCDS has an ongoing Capital Campaign to raise funds to support the construction costs of the new Middle & Upper School facility, which was completed in the fall of 2005. The beautiful campus was purchased, and the first phases of renovation to the existing Lower School facility accomplished, through contributions to the Capital Campaign.
