At Madison Country Day School, children in Pre-Kindergarten
and Kindergarten comprise the Early Childhood Program. The
Early Childhood Program focuses on preparing a child to learn and
excel within the structured academic and supportive social environment
of Madison Country Day School.
Early Childhood Curriculum Continuum
- The Early Childhood Team is committed to building an exceptional
curriculum. The team helps students become thinkers, not just
rote learners. They recognize they must focus on results: what
each student is becoming. The team meets regularly to continue
building an appropriate, yet challenging program for the pre-kindergarten
and kindergarten students.
- Students are encouraged to develop a "learning attitude" which carries them beyond the simple acquisition of knowledge. The focus is to develop students who can reflect on issues and make good judgments.
- The goal beyond the curriculum is to make children feel part
of a compassionate learning community where they are honored
as individuals, where they respect each other, and where they
respect and love learning. MCDS views teaching as a means to
help students move toward new knowledge and experience, while
also sharing what they already know.
