Madison Country Day School Presents Crazy For You

The middle school acting company and high school production team at Madison Country Day School’s Theatre Department are thrilled to announce the spring musical production, Crazy For You. This Tony award-winning show with a nod to the golden age of Broadway is a zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy. Crazy For You tells the story of young New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theater. In Deadrock, he falls for spunky Polly Baker, the theater owner’s daughter. But she takes an instant dislike to the city slicker, so Bobby vows — through cunning, razzmatazz, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity — to win Polly’s heart and save the theater. Memorable Gershwin tunes from the score include “I Got Rhythm,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “Nice Work if You Can Get It,” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.” A cast of over 30 MCDS middle school students is coached by high school choreographer Leanna (Class of 2020), dance captain Fatimah (Class of 2021), musical director Drew (Class of 2018), and the student director C (Class of 2020). The stage is managed by the talented Elizabeth (Class of 2018) with production assistance and vocal coaching by Rose (Class of 2018), as well as design by Jade (Class of 2018) and Simon (Class of 2020), and costume assistance from Alexandra (Class of 2021).

This family-appropriate musical comedy will be performed April 20 at 7 p.m. and April 21 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. at the Verona Area Community Theater. Tickets are online via Ticket Tailor and are $7 for students and seniors, and $12 for adults.
