The MCDS campus is the ideal setting for a variety of extra-curricular activities and experiences. Our beautiful 75-acre wooded setting overlooks Lake Cherokee, and includes a Lower School building -- originally designed by renowned architect Herb Fritz -- and a newly constructed Middle and Upper school facility, completed in fall of 2005. The sports fields, labs, studios, and hiking trails allow our students to pursue their passions, in and out of the classroom.
Athletics: A no-cut policy underlies our approach to athletics. From the Lower School soccer program to the Middle School basketball teams to the Upper School Crew team, athletics at MCDS develop teamwork, sporting behavior, and a lifelong love of physical endeavor. With such facilities as a collegiate-level track and a recently completed gymnasium, we offer a variety of sports to students in all levels of school.
Performing Arts: MCDS offers extensive opportunities for students to explore their passion for the performing arts. The same no-cut policy holds true for our musicals and plays, which are performed every spring and fall in our gymnasium/theater facility. Musical performances occur throughout the year, both during the school day and at special evening performances.
Extra-curricular Activities: From extra-curricular activities to school day electives, we support our students in pursuing their interests and experiencing all that our faculty and environment have to offer. These have included such activities as math team, ultimate frisbee, latin club, and yearbook.
