Student-led organization promoting social life by planning school spirit activities, social events, dances, and holiday celebrations.

Model UN

A simulated exercise of the United Nations where students assume the identities of delegates from specific nations and advocate for their nation’s interests at a mock conference (1-2 per year) with other high schools from around the U.S. and the world.

Prairie Magazine

Student-run literary journal (published twice/school year) featuring creative fiction, nonfiction, poetry, editorials, and book reviews

Prairie Hawk Investing

Student-run organization that participates in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition, where they compete against other high schools around the world in investment strategy and analysis.

Science Olympiad

Students prepare for and compete with their peers in various events that are grounded in all scientific disciplines.

Geography Club

Students explore global geography through trivia games, videos, map challenges, and other activities. Interested students can also prepare to compete in both the US Geography Championships and the International Geography Bee, as well as other local/regional events.

Community Service

Helping the community during the pandemic. Students volunteer monthly to package food at Second Harvest, distribute food through the Sunshine Supper Meal Program in Sun Prairie, or correspond with residents at the Meadowmere Retirement Home. 

Japan Bowl

Students participate in the Wisconsin Japan Bowl in February for the chance to qualify for the National Japan Bowl in Washington D.C that takes place in April. Student teams of 2-3 answer questions related to Japanese language and culture.  Practices are arranged with Breun sensei and/or done individually using the study guide.

Computer Science Club

Starting ’21-’22: The purpose of the computer science club is to spark interest in the field of computer science and its applications to MCDS high school students of all backgrounds and skill levels. In addition, the club will provide the resources and background knowledge for students to be able to pursue their interest in computer science outside of the club.

Exchange Program

A trip for HS Spanish students to a Spanish-speaking country in the 2021-2022 school year.

Japan Trip

Anticipated travel to Japan in June of 2022.  We will  visit our sister school, Hakuoh and explore the cities of Tokyo, Kyoto and possibly Hiroshima.

Students of Color Affinity Group (SOCAG)

Student of Color Affinity Group (SOCAG) is a social group for high achool students of color. In SOCAG, students have the chance to discuss their experiences at MCDS and get to know other students of color.

Social Activism and Awareness (SAA)

Social Activism and Awareness (SAA) addresses a variety of important social and political issues through social media, events, and projects.

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)

HOSA is specifically for students who want to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. It prepares students for healthcare careers and students get to share/test their knowledge through the competitions and tournaments.
