Kakehashi Project connects Japanese student visitors with MCDS community

MCDS thanks our 24 Japanese student visitors and their two teachers, who were on campus Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25 as part of the Kakehashi Project, sponsored by the Japanese government. “Kakehashi” means “Bridge.” The program aims to heighten interest in Japan and enhance international understanding. The students are from the Tohoku area, the part of Japan that was struck by the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. In addition to visiting MCDS, they traveled to San Francisco and Seattle.

The Kakehashi Program is similar to the Kizuna Project, which provided the opportunity for ten MCDS students to travel to Tohoku in 2013. Sixteen MCDS families served as hosts to the Kakehashi students.
