Our Music Department presents three concerts as part of the Winter Concert Series. The middle school concert (grades 5-8) will be December 13 at 5:30 p.m. and will offer many exciting pieces. The strings will feature a combined piece titled Air on Ode to Joy, the bands will entertain with John Williams’ Star Wars, and the choirs will feature soloists on the piece “Joyful, Joyful” from Sister Act 2. Director of Bands Jon Schipper stated, “These students have been working on this material for months, and they are excited to perform.”
The MCDS high school concert will also be December 13 at 7 p.m. and wills howcase the viola section in the orchestra on Celtic Romp by Wisconsin’s own composer Randy Sabien. The band will perform a traditional and inspiring wind ensemble piece Winds of Change along with other pieces, and the choir is taking a short trip through time starting with a Renaissance madrigal and ending in the 1960’s with the well-known hit by the Foundations, Build me up Buttercup.
The lower school concert will be held on December 14 at 6 p.m. and will feature music from many cultures that brings light to the dark days of winter performed by our choirs from grades 1-4 and our fourth grade orchestra.
