SPRING STRING THING 2026
Friday, March 13
¡Che! Get ready to be transported to the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires! Our
2026 Spring String Thing features the passionate, rhythmic, and sophisticated world of
Tango. MCDS orchestra students from grades 5-12 will be joined by the internationally renowned 5-piece ensemble
Tango with Winnie featuring bandoneon, violin, cello, bass, and piano. Dance instructors Catherine Young and Craig Rypstat will guide students and families through the basics of this iconic dance, and guests will enjoy authentic Argentine empanadas from local restaurant
Toro y Pampa. This performance highlights the incredible versatility of our student musicians as they master the intricate "rubato" and sharp accents that define this fiery genre. The evening will culminate in impassioned live music, a fun, all-levels-welcome dance floor, and delicious food!
We appreciate your support for our
5th annual Spring String Thing.
